INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING

A Brief Historical Sketch of PUP-Industrial Engineering Program

When the College of Commerce was transformed into the Polytechnic University of he Philippines in 1978, a Faculty of Technology was created and offered Bachelor in Technology courses. This office was converted into the Institute of Technology in 1980 and with Dr. Romulo M. Ricafranca as Director, the Bachelor of Industrial Communication Engineering (BICE) was offered together with the other Engineering Degrees.

In 1985, Engr. Herman A. Padua was appointed Director of the Institute. In this year, a proposal coming from Engr. Ma. Theresa Bongulto to revise the BICE was undertaken. This brought about the Bachelor in Industrial Engineering while the Electronics Engineering was retitled Bachelor in Electronics and Communication Engineering in 1986.

When Dr. Nemesio E. Prudente became the President of PUP in 1986, he included the word Science in each Engineering program which converted Bachelor in Industrial Engineering (BIE) to Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering (BSIE).
